The IFR Research Colloquium is a unique community where futurists and aspiring futurists can engage in matters relating specifically to the futures field. The key purpose of this community is to create a platform that will allow members to dialogue and share their learnings.
Feedback from the first colloquium meeting
2018's Research Colloquium Meetings have been scheduled to take place on the first Friday of the month from 08:00 - 10:00. The first meeting of 2018 took place on 2 February during which IFR Senior Futurist Doris Viljoen facilitated a dialogue about different futures methods and how to apply these. The primary aim of this colloquium was to allow colloquium members to 'play' with thinking tools in order to gain practical experience in the application thereof and to create an opportunity for shared learning on the usability of the tools. The three thinking tools considered were:
- Triple D-model
- 4 Questions (Vanston)
- Utopian/Dystopian scenario and backcast.
